Alongside volunteering with Saffron Records since it began, I’m currently an English student in my final year at Bristol University. I’m a huge music and pop culture enthusiast and, like many, find myself frustrated by the lack of female representation across all sectors of the media, so I jumped at the chance to get in touch with Laura when I discovered Saffron Records on Twitter in September 2016!
The promotion and encouragement of young female talent in the music industry is disappointingly lacking as it stands, and that’s why Saffron Records is such an exciting thing to be a part of; I am thrilled to have a hand in an organisation that strives to give female talent a space to be heard. I love music so much, mostly because it can both bring people together and also appeal to everyone on an individual level. You’d be hard pressed to find somebody in the world who is entirely averse to music – it’s the most universal language of all.
At university, I also work at the student radio, as well as at BCFM on the One Love Breakfast Show. I hope to one day produce radio and continue to provide a platform for new, emerging artists to share their work.
